Hessle High School is a secondary school and sixth form college situated in the town of Hessle, in East Riding of Yorkshire, five miles west of Kingston upon Hull's city centre. The school converted to an academy school in August 2011,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Hessle High School and Sixth Form College )〕 and has been awarded Specialist Science College status. ==History and location== The school's Heads Lane site is centred on Tranby House, originally built in 1807 by local Kingston upon Hull merchant John Barkworth. After Barkworth's death in 1945, the house was bequeathed to the local education authority to become a school.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=The History of Tranby House )〕 The house is an almost exact duplicate of the now-demolished Tranby House, and Hessle Mount, now a private junior school. Tranby House was the home of Algernon Barkworth, a descendant of John Barkworth, who survived the sinking of the Titanic.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Tranby House, Algernon Barkworth's Country Home )〕 In 1967, Tranby House became a Grade II listed building to ensure its history and architecture are protected.〔〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Tranby House, Hessle )〕 The school is split over two sites. Years 7 and 8 are located on Boothferry Road, with years 9 and above, including sixth form college students, on Heads Lane. Since achieving academy status (The Hessle Academy Community Trust), the sixth form remains part of a consortium with Wolfreton School and Cottingham High School which was established in 2009.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Welcome to the Consortium )〕 Pupils study post-16 courses at partnership schools. The school is also in a federation with Penshurst Primary School.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=The Hessle Federation is a cross phase organisation, 3-19, between Penshurst Primary School and Hessle High School and Sixth Form College )〕
